Quality Items you SHOULD SPLURGE on....

As I have become more experienced making purchases for clients as well as for my own properties, I've learned that certain items shouldn't be a compromise. Buy once and buy right!

1. Linens and towels, anything that touches your skin is an investment in comfort and if you wish, luxury....high thread counts are softer, more durable and longer lasting. Tip: Know your luxury brands and find them at online outlets or local discount stores.

2. Upholstery, purchasing a quality sofa or other important furniture pieces is worth it. Cotton blends that have a high percentage of polyester provide optimal stain resistance and long term wear, Look for solid wood construction.

3. Room-size Rugs. Good rugs are not inexpensive. If you purchase your dream rug, it can be the center of your design and last for years to come. The alternative is todays new washable rugs, just plan to replace every couple of years or upcycle them for outdoor use.

4. Countertops? Black and white never go out of style. I personally think todays marble are more beautiful than granite and even more beautiful and durable, yet less expensive than quartz which everyone wants today. Me, I'd much rather have a beautiful, natural material. It's a conversation piece. Try buying marble remnants too.
